The\u00a0BMPT “Ramka”\u00a0is a new\u00a0Russian\u00a0armored vehicle designed to support tank and infantry operations, primarily in urban areas. This vehicle is sometimes nicknamed the “Terminator”.<\/p>\n
The BMPT is based on the chassis of the\u00a0T-72\u00a0which is used in large numbers by the Russian Army and has been manufactured under license by many other countries. The rear of the driver’s compartment, at the front of the vehicle, has been raised, providing greater internal volume. A new mount is equipped with two 30\u00a0mm\u00a02A42 dual-feed cannons\u00a0with a cyclic rate of fire of up to 600 rds\/min. A total of 850 rounds of ready use ammunition can be carried. The cannon can fire a wide range of ammunition types including:\u00a0High Explosive\u00a0–\u00a0Tracer\u00a0(HE-T), Armour-piercing discarding sabot\u00a0(APDS),\u00a0High Explosive\u00a0Fragmentation\u00a0(HE-FRAG) and\u00a0Armor-Piercing\u00a0– Tracer (AP-T). A 7.62\u00a0mm machine gun is mounted coaxially with the main armament. Four launchers for the\u00a0Ataka-T\u00a0anti-tank guided missile\u00a0(ATGM), which can fire a variety of different warheads, are mounted on either side of the main armament.
