All the ships are named after\u00a0<a title=\"List of dukes in the peerages of the British Isles\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_dukes_in_the_peerages_of_the_British_Isles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Dukes<\/a>, thus the class is also known as the Duke class. The first Type 23 was commissioned in 1989, and the sixteenth,\u00a0<a title=\"HMS St Albans (F83)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/HMS_St_Albans_(F83)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HMS\u00a0St Albans<\/a>\u00a0was launched in May 2000 and commissioned in June 2002. The combination of\u00a0<a title=\"AgustaWestland AW101\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AgustaWestland_AW101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merlin helicopters<\/a>\u00a0with their advanced anti submarine equipment, and\u00a0<a title=\"Sonar 2087\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sonar_2087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sonar 2087<\/a>, has according to the Royal Navy, re-affirmed its reputation as a leader in\u00a0<a title=\"Anti-submarine warfare\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anti-submarine_warfare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-submarine warfare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>HMS Westminster (F237) is a\u00a0<a title=\"Type 23 frigate\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Type_23_frigate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Type 23<\/a>\u00a0<a title=\"Frigate\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frigate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">frigate<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0<a title=\"Royal Navy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Royal_Navy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Navy<\/a>, and the second ship to bear the name.
